What happens if I use an antifungal cream and it turns out that its not a fungus its something else?

Could anything bad come from using the medication. Its over the counter not prescriptionWhat happens if I use an antifungal cream and it turns out that its not a fungus its something else?
I think the only bad thing that can happen is you still have whatever isn't a fungus. On the plus side you now know one thing it isn't and you won't have a fungus. You won't have any other problems from it.What happens if I use an antifungal cream and it turns out that its not a fungus its something else?
Your infection will get worse. Your body contains a natural balance of bacteria and fungi and other microbes. When this balance is interrupted, you get an infection. If you're using an antifungal cream on a bacterial infection - it's encouraging the bacterial infection to grow uncontrolled. Your infection will get worse if you use the wrong medication. If you're not sure what you have - please see a doctor.
The above post may be right, but I don't think it's likely, since what you are mistaking for a fungal infection is probably just something like dermatitis, and not a bacterial infection. Watch it to see if it gets worse, and make an appointment with a dermatologist.
