so I noticed this little baby on my shoulder on wednesday, june 4. but since I was so busy getting ready for leadership camp and my parents have been pushing treatment aside for awhile (don't ask why), it has gotten way worse and now I have three spots on my shoulder. I have started using a rite aid brand of antifungal cream on tuesday and I know, it's only the second day of treatment but I want to get rid of this SOON. Four weeks seems way too long.
No, and I'm not paying practically seventy bucks for fungRX.
But do you think using this antifungal cream and maybe using home remedies such as rubbing papaya and stuff would help? Like would it speed up recovery??Home remedy and antifungal cream at the same time for ringworm?
Yes, you can continue to use the two as the same time. Personally, I wouldn't waste your time with papaya or the cream. I had a fungal infection on my foot a few years ago, and after rubbing the useless non-prescription cream on it for a couple weeks with little progress, I decided to apply some of what I knew. Try this:
Just before bed, take about 20 cloves, 3 cloves of fresh (small organic) garlic, and dry parsley, and chop it down to near-dust in a food processor. Add water to make a thick paste. Smear 1/8'; of paste onto some plastic wrap with a diameter twice the size of your ring. Put some gauze behind the wrap in case some fluid leaks. Take an ACE bandage and strap down the gauze and plastic wrap to your shoulder. You'll want to try and make sure that the paste stays in place over night. Within 20-30 minutes, you should taste a metallic flavor in your mouth if you have the right potency. Store leftover paste in your refrigerator in an small air-tight container.
In the morning, remove everything, shower, and apply the paste again another night. The next morning, you will probably be done. There will be a chunk of impacted skin that peel off when the fungus is dead.
So after the fungal cream for two weeks, I did this for my foot for two nights, a big chunk of skin fell off, and the infection never came back. The skin underneath was smooth and slightly pink, and returned to its normal appearance in about a week.
I hope this helps you.Home remedy and antifungal cream at the same time for ringworm?
I know from experience that OTC stuff doesn't work. You should be able to get an antifungal for less than $5--just ask your doctor to write you a generic prescription.
As far as home remedies go, tea tree oil is supposed to be good for ringworm. However, it takes at least two months! I would go with the RX if I were you.

The only thing that really helped me was making sure that the affected area was well moisturized.
