If you have Hydrogen Peroxide in the house, mouthwash with it and put it on the cold sore if it is on the outside of the lip. It heals very well.

It won't do anything since cold sores are a form of herpes, which is a virus, not a fungus. I know there are topical medications similar to lip balm specifically for cold sores.
